The first quarter of 2008 has been very busy with networking events, representation and the inauguration of the new President of the Chamber, Jackie Campbell who takes over from Michael Lister.
Bio-chemist...marketing professional.. dry cleaning specialist and forensic Egyptologist all make up the character of Jackie. Jackie launched the local dry cleaning specialist, Faddies in Hale in 1990 and has a real passion for community spirit. Jackie joined the Chamber back in 1993, and represents Hale on the Executive Council. As Jackie begins her term in office, she commented, “The chamber has a vital role to play for local business. It’ s not just for networking, growth and learning from others‘ experiences – it’s for representing them and lobbying local or national government on the members’ behalf.”
Recently the Chamber was among several local bodies in lobbying Trafford Council regarding the increase in car parking charges. As the Chief Executive, Ian Stuart pointed, “We appreciate that Trafford have budgets to meet, however our members feel most strongly that the revised rates will have serious effects on their businesses.” We are delighted to report that in the case of Oakfield Road both the evening and Sunday charging periods have reverted to the pre January charging periods. Incidents such as this certainly show the benefits of Chamber representation.
Looking forward - dates for the diary include:
Friday 11 April – Spring lunch at Dunham Forest Golf Club. Guest speaker Julia Fawcett, Chief Executive of the Lowry.
Wednesday 30 April – President’s Champagne Reception at the RadissonSAS, Manchester Airport
We are sure that both of these events will prove to be excellent networking opportunities. Spaces will be limited, therefore please reserve your places as soon as possible. Contact Anne at the Chamber office, anne@altrinchamchamber.co.uk.
We are delighted to now have so many different types of businesses working together as Chamber members. As part of a ‘Bigger Business’ we can really strengthen our own.
We look forward to seeing you at one of the forthcoming Chamber events. |
